"What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death?"
I have discovered what Paul meant as he wrote that. When I gave my life to Christ and was truly repentant of all I had done, I saw how filthy I was. The dirty rags of my life out for all to see.
I didn't feel so good after all. I realized it wasn't enough to just say I was saved because I'm good. Why? Because I am not. I am constantly battling this world and it's life. Constantly pushing against the current. I am saved because of that day Jesus was nailed to the cross. I am saved because I love Him. And because I love Him, I desire to do all He has asked of me. My friends, saying your a Christian isn't enough. Saying your saved isn't enough. You must do what He has asked of you. If you don't, it's all for nothing. We cannot be saved, if we don't follow what He has asked of us. For isn't that what has to happen for our new home to be perfect. We can't have sin there. We can't have people who won't let go of this world.
The story of Sodom and Gomorrah is a perfect example. God told them to leave and not look back. But Lots wife couldn't let go of the sin filled city. She still clung to this world and not of God. She looked back and turned to stone. This is how it is with our walk with God and choices we make. A choice to live in the world or with God. I don't mean to be extreme but I see it all around me. I was there. I was asleep. I didn't see it. When Gods love filled inside me I saw what Paul saw. I knew in my heart, because I loved Him, that I must do all that He asked of me. So...being good isn't enough. Saying you love Him isn't enough. It's choosing, because of His love, to live the way He has asked of us. To follow His laws and guidance. What path do you want to follow today? Is there something you are still clinging to like Lots wife? That you just can't let go of? Does the world love you like your Father loves you? Would it die for you? Let go and let God lead..I promise, it is the best choice I ever made in my life. This world has nothing compared to what God has to offer.
I want you to understand one thing. God is holy; therefore, all His commandments are holy, just and good.
Thanks be to God this problem has not been left for me to solve. It has been solved for me by Jesus Christ! Because of my sinful human nature, still a times do wrong things and even right things for the wrong reasons. Nevertheless, with my mind I continue to choose to serve the law of God, even though my sinful nature is bent on serving the law of sin.
"If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you.
1 John 2:15
