One must think me pretty silly at times with my hyper active imagination and fear of darkness even now as an adult. Complete darkness and I are not friends. Several months ago, I moved into an old plantation house built in 1872..Many times people have joked with me about ghosts and had I seen any. I would laugh and brush it off, but honestly still felt a bit of fear if I found myself wandering the halls in the darkness. You see, I believe in ghosts. I believe there are spirits out there. Why? Let me share a story with you.
Several years ago, when I lived a life away from God and was into drugs, I had my one and hopefully only visit with a ghost.
You may laugh and assume it was hallucinations, which I wish I could say it was..but it wasnt. I was visiting a producers large house in Atlanta, bringing drugs and then staying for the party. They directed me to where the bathroom was, but somehow I missed the correct turn..
The part of the house where I was, was semi dark, and as I walked down the stairs, I turned my head to the room I was passing. I saw an older woman sitting, curled up in a chair reading, with a lamp on. Embarrassed to be seen in my drug infused state, I quickly kept walking. When I got back to where everyone was, I informed the producer on what I saw, apologizing for going the wrong direction and bothering anyone. He looked to his wife, and asked where I saw this woman. I told him and he asked me to come with him there. We got up and walked to the room, but it was dark. There was no one there. I swore up and down I saw her..confused on what was going on. He pointed to a picture hanging on the wall, asking if this was the woman I saw. I said that it was. He reassured me, telling me who I saw was his mother, who passed away months before. That this wasnt the first siting. He started crying..but seemed happy at her appearance. That she was there.
To this day, I still remember seeing her sitting there.
Do I think that this was his mother. NO.
Remember the story of Saul..when he visited the medium..it wasnt from God, the spirit he saw, but from the devil..as is any spirit we see on this earth. He will use any master way to sway us from the truth. Why is it so hard to believe in a God, but we readily accept that our loved ones roam the earth as ghostly forms. What an unpleasant belief. That when we die, we float around watching our loved ones hurt..watching them cry. Do you think that our God would do this? He says clearly in Thessalonians 4 that when we pass away, we "sleep". To mean death. What a more pleasant thought, that when my grandmother passed away, that she is sleeping until the day the trumpet sounds to wake her up and bring her home. So dont be misguided by what society has twisted into believing to be the truth. Always turn to Gods words for that. There are spirits...but only from the devil and his fallen angels.
Again..another reason to press to His word everyday so that you may also know the truth.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
The Lord’s Coming
13 Brothers and sisters, we want you to know about those who have died. We don’t want you to be sad like other people—those who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died, but we also believe that he rose again. So we believe that God will raise to life through Jesus any who have died and bring them together with him when he comes.
What we tell you now is the Lord’s own message. Those of us who are still living when the Lord comes again will join him, but not before those who have already died. The Lord himself will come down from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. And the people who have died and were in Christ will rise first. After that we who are still alive at that time will be gathered up with those who have died. We will be taken up in the clouds and meet the Lord in the air. And we will be with the Lord forever. So encourage each other with these words.
