We can work ourselves to death to achieve what we think we want and need..missing out on what's really important. I know this firsthand from my work. I can get so stressed out and my kids would take the brunt of it..and all they wanted was their mom. They deserve to be at the top of the list like my Father. It was when I decided to bring God into my work..and balance it where it needed to be, was when my joy came. We will go through struggles still but must learn to go towards God in those moments. To find thankfulness in the lessons we learn from them. In poverty, I learned to depend on God moment by moment. He always came through. In being broken hearted, I learned He is the mender of broken hearts. In my times of tears, I have found joy still. This is why we need joy in our lives. When times get hard and our burdens heavy, it is the joy that we find still that carries us through. God has given me things to find to be thankful for in these times. To thank Him for lessons learned if I fall. For words found to help guide me where I need to go. So how can we find this joy if we are all consumed with life? If we absorb ourselves in what we think we need...when all we need is God. He's our joy in this life. So what can we do? Here's the famous word..focus. Focus on times ahead. The promises we have been given. This world is but temporary and God has promised something better. It is what made the greats push through. In Hebrews chapter 11, you see the history of faith. From Abel to Noah, they all had such struggles in their lives. It was looking ahead to a better place that pulled them through. That gave them joy. God is our peace and contentment. He will give us all we desire and more. He will fill our hearts with joy when it feels like we have none left. He can make the most mundane life so awesome. Just be careful not to lose that joy. Fill your hearts and minds DAILY with His words. Talk with Him. Spend time with Him. Put Him first in everything that you do. Be careful. The devils in the business of stealing joy, making you too busy to even notice. Gods in the business of giving it to you..who would you chose today?
Always be joyful in Christ.
Never stop praying. Be thankful to God for what He has done for you, no matter what happens. This is the kind of life God expects from those who know Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Let's hold firmly without wavering to the hope we have in Jesus Christ. God is faithful and can be trusted. So let's be compassionate and give some thought to how we can spur each other on toward love and good deeds. Don't give up the habit of worshipping together as some have already done, but encourage each other all the more as you see the signs of the Great Day approaching.
