I have found worry can be the death of you. It can bring you to tears, to exhaustion, to miss out on all the good God has blessed you with. You have a choice. I have a choice. We lay in bed with the choice of getting out. What side are we going to get out on. The good or the bad. Will we tackle the day with a smile...or a frown. Several years ago, I decided that irregardless of what life throws my way.. I will smile. As God has moved more and more into my heart, the smiling has become so much easier. There is so much to smile about. The laughter of my children as our Boston terrier, Hershey, bounces around like a crazy person in the morning. His ears laid back against his head and his entire body wiggling in sheer excitement.. Just to see you. His whole body exudes joy, from his happy grin to his stubby tail..
A dog is a good animal to look at to be like. They are so happy to be with the people they love. They show it in every way. They walk around with a permagrin on their face. Hypothetically speaking..I want to be like our boston terrier. I want to exude so much joy and happiness that it affects the people around me. To pass on that smile to someone else. To make their steps a little lighter. The heaviness on the shoulders a little less. In the end..to show Christ in my actions. So..tackle the day with a smile! Remember..it's your choice how you want to take on today.
A glad heart makes a cheerful face, but by sorrow of heart the spirit is crushed. The heart of him who has understanding seeks knowledge, but the mouths of fools feed on folly.
A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
