The last words yelled out were of pain and anguish. But the pain wasn't just from the nails embedded into His hands and feet. Nor the thorn in His head. No, there was also the anguish from inside of the burdens that were heavily placed on His shoulders by you and me. The final words were of forgiveness not cursing. These men that did this to Him did not deserve these words. They were responsible for His pain. For the nails. For the cross. Yet, He didn't curse them, but pled for them. A man dying in agony, and His only words were of forgiveness. We take this too lightly. We forget to easily as time has passed of what happened that day. We can become bitter and angry at some injustice done to us. We can curse and yell at people for the wrongs they have done to us. To turn our heads away when forgiveness is needed. To forget that it just takes a few simple words to be healed. To be saved. To forgive as our Father forgave us that day on the cross. Satan thrives on anger. What an easy way to separate us from our Maker. To successfully draw us into the world and away from the promises of eternity. Is it worth it? That bitterness inside you? Is it worth eternity? The struggles inside of letting go and letting God handle it..it's so easy once you do. For me, the best answers to finding the right words to do so, is to let go and to trust God will handle any type of change or accountability to the other person. To ask God to help us have forgiveness.
We shouldn't go on about karma. No, we need to forgive our enemies and pray for them. Pray for people who have hurt us. They, just like us at times, don't realize the pain they can cause to someone else. They don't realize, truly, the damage that they did. Sin causes pain. Sin causes selfishness. Those soldiers that nailed Jesus to the cross, that was just a normal routine. All those people that got caught up into the mob, yelling and spitting, they didn't know that truly Jesus was the Messiah. The Redeemer. This is my answer for battling forgiveness. If my Jesus could forgive that day on the cross, while hanging in shame and horrible pain..I can too.
To just come to the realization that others don't realize, also, what they are doing. To forgive as my Father has forgiven me. To hold onto eternity and not lose it for some foolish thing. Remember..not karma but forgiveness. It's the only answer and way to be like Jesus.
But if you don’t forgive others, then your Father in heaven will not forgive the wrongs you do.
You must go away because when I was hungry, you gave me nothing to eat. When I was thirsty, you gave me nothing to drink. When I had no place to stay, you did not welcome me into your home. When I was without clothes, you gave me nothing to wear. When I was sick and in prison, you did not care for me.’
"Then those people will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty? When did we see you without a place to stay? Or when did we see you without clothes or sick or in prison? When did we see any of this and not help you?’
“The king will answer, ‘The truth is, anything you refused to do for any of my people here, you refused to do for me.’
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they are doing.”
