Alas, as January rolled past, I started realizing the desserts lingering on my hips and warm weather creeping closer. It was, again, time to face reality.
So, sure many of us join gyms and buy work out machines that we may use 5 times in good intentions, but after awhile it becomes a clothes rack or gathering dust.
During my walk with God, I became more so aware of the verse claiming that our body is not our own but of Gods.1 Corinthians 6:19Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
19 You should know that your body is a temple[a] for the Holy Spirit that you received from God and that lives in you. You don’t own yourselves.
I started thinking more about what I was putting into it and respecting more the creation God made of me. The miracle of each beat of the heart and each breath we breathe.
We are our masters creation, are we not supposed to treasure it?
How would you feel after carefully molding and perfecting a perfect piece of art, and someone comes along and trashes it. Makes me think about my daughter. At the tender age that she is, each drawing she makes she takes great pride in. She is my emotional girl, and the times her "masterpieces" get written on, ripped, water spilled..somehow ruined, and her heart breaks, tears spill. Do you wonder what God feels like when He sees, how,at times, we can treat our bodies?
So this smoothie challenge is not just for me to get in better, healthier shape..and to shake those desserts off my hips, but to give my Father the true respect His masterpiece deserves. =)
For after all, my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. I am,..YOU are His masterpiece.
So lets get to talking about these smoothies!
After much research, I have discovered super benefits in the green. Of course, as a friend reminded me the other day, be sure to buy organic if you can, or WASH WASH WASH! These greens can come packed with toxins, so it is crucial to clean as much as possible. After all, we are trying to be healthy!
Anyways, a few weeks ago, God blessed us with a Vitamix from Organize Yourself Skinny..I have learned to love this womans website and all the cool healthy tidbits. I was even more stoked when I won a blender I had only dreamed of having!
One of her smoothies,
http://www.organizeyourselfskinny.com/2013/11/25/strawberry-kale-green-smoothie/ is simply awesome! I learned an excellent idea to freeze baggies of fruit for future smoothies when you are in a rush, which the kids and I are always!
So this mornings smoothie consists of
1-2c of frozen grapes
2 bananas chopped,frozen
2 tsp flax seed
2TB Stevia/Agave(optional for sweetening)
1/2c coconut milk(almond or soy works great too!)
1/2c Green Tea
Blend and enjoy! I love the green color this smoothie makes =) Even better, my kids love it too!
