The cool air conditioning was the first thing I felt as I walked through her doorway.
Her house was dimly lit with a the TV softly playing.
As we sat on the couch, she shared why she had wanted to order the bible story books.
As many, her grandmother had them when she was a child, and she wanted some also for her children.
These books have been a generational blessing upon so many families.
We talked for awhile about the various books and I shared, briefly about our lives, how much God has changed us and brought us from a difficult past.
As our conversation was ending, out of no where she said she was pushed through a wall and fell from the 6th floor to the 2nd floor. That now, here she was, able to walk and talk about it..
That this was her testimony to others.
I agreed that it most definitely was, and also how terrifying it must have been.
She then shared with us her struggles since falling, from having extreme back pain which in the long run had evolved to given her depression.
Alarm bells rang in my head immediately when she said that. I could tell
it was the same way with Seth also as I noticed him perk up a bit more.
She told us her doctor
had just prescribed her some medicine to take about a month ago but she'd been too scared to start taking it.
Seth asked her what she was taking and she went to get her bag, bringing it out to us.
She then handed
it to Seth and we saw immediately, it was the same exact medicine we had just FINALLY gotten Seth off of.
We shared with her our experience over the last several months of what bupropion and Paxil had done to Seth.
Then we also shared some other avenues to take,
from foods to eat and natural supplements to take.
As I wrote the information down with my cell phone number, she said,"I know God sent you two here for
Too quickly, doctors will throw a pill at us if we feel sad or depressed instead of looking for alternative remedies.
Too quickly, instead of helping us find someone we can talk to, they think a pill will solve that problem instead.
Depression and anxiety are very real BUT 90% of people don't need to be on medication.
I shared with her Dr Neal Nedleys information and where to look him up online. Also what therapist to reach out to instead of a doctor.
She kept repeating how she knew that God had sent us..and at that very moment I knew He did too.
This is why God let us go through the storm we went through...so that we could help someone else.
This is why I love literature evangelist work so much.
It isn't about the books as much as the people I get to reach out to each day.
Getting to be Gods messenger is pretty awesome.
