All this week my thoughts have been on one little sentence from a verse in the Bible.
Over and over the words whisper inside me..
"Oh ye of little faith" Matthew 6:30
Looking at the words, I see this is a struggle for many, including myself. In the rocking waves, as the boat crashed back and forth in the storm, He said those same words to the disciples.
Peter had faith as he walked to Jesus..but then doubt set in, and he started to sink. Again Jesus questioned his faith.
And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
What makes us stagger and fall, to lose sight of our Redeemer? One moment we are strong, the next, swept into the current of doubt. Of fear. Of worry.
As I bowed my head this morning, my knees bent, praying to my Father, words started drifting to me. A song touching my heart, that I knew God was placing there. Words of reminder of what all He has done and is doing for me and you. Amazing grace..how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found. 'Twas grace that set me free.
My Bible opened this morning to the end of 1 Thessalonians 5..
As I read, I was reminded why at times the valley is so much better then the mountains. To be low, keeps us trusting day by day. Helps our faith grow stronger as long as we keep our eyes on Him. The warning to not be so secure in our Father, that we fall asleep spiritually. A reminder that we are people of the day. To wear the armor of God minute by minute for our protection and strength. To not look away like Peter, but keep our eyes skyward. To not forget but to remember our purpose here. My dearest friends, I know life can be so hard at times, the valley so discouraging, life so distracting, but don't lose faith. Don't stop looking up. Wear faith, love, and self discipline as your armor. Open Gods word every morning, praying steadily, asking for strength, comfort, and peace. He will give them to you. I know this because He gives it to me every day. I am so grateful for the valleys He has given me, for I grow stronger then ever before in my love for Him. My family has grown stronger. My children have grown stronger. I leave you with these last words to give you strength to keep pushing on and trusting always..rest in your Fathers arms today.
Keep your thoughts on the Lord. He will give you the rest you deserve when He returns from Heaven in a blazing fire with His powerful angels.
2 Thessalonians 1:7
Always be joyful in Christ. Never stop praying. Be thankful to God for what He has done for you , no matter what happens.
This is the kind of life God expects from those who know Jesus Christ. Don't put out the fire of the Holy Spirit kindled in your heart. Don't treat inspired messages as if they're not important.
