My devotion this morning touched on parts of our lives and how IF can come into question many times in our lives. If we had only done certain things life would have been different. Imagine if Jesus changed His mind in Gethsemane..or Adam didn't eat the fruit. So much would have been different if those things happened. Life may not have existed for any of us. Jesus chose to die because, though He knew what lay ahead would be difficult, it would be worth it because He would have His children home. We will face criticism and storms just like Jesus did, but must stand on firm ground, like the wise man who built his home on rock instead of sifting sand. So much so like our relationship with God. We must not be swayed to the world but stand firm to His ways. It will be hard, but remember if we give up and give in..how different our lives will be. Always think, did Jesus give up? Did He walk away because of hostile words? Did He leave us? We should be like our Father.. I so desperately need to be like Him. To not be swayed by people's words and actions, but only keep my eyes to Him. To live as He lived. As I said yesterday about prayer, so it is the same." 'IF' My people would humble themselves and pray.." How different our lives could be. Choices we make so different..IF we humble ourselves and pray before doing something. How different life could be IF we are on our knees during the storm. How different our actions would be IF we would pray before doing something. How different someone else's struggles would be IF we prayed for them. It is so simple. The answer to any storm we are facing is just to be on our knees, humbling ourselves in prayer. Connecting as Jesus did that night in Gethsemane. It was in Jesus' life, as He showed daily, how important prayer is. He always ALWAYS found time in the day to go commune alone with His Father. He knew the importance of prayer and He lived His life for us as an example. Facing a storm or see someone who is? Pray. Feel a weight or burden for truth? Pray. God will answer..if we but humble ourselves and pray.
2 Chronicles 7:14-15New International Version (NIV)
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers offered in this place.
