Simons story is very well a reminder of our lives today. We can be going through some really hard times. Around really difficult people. At the dead end of our ropes. Struggling to just get up in the mornings. Why God? Why me? What have I done to deserve this? Just like Simon, God has a purpose for you too. And me. We go through hard times, and instead of being bitter and angry, we need to rejoice in the privilege of bearing the cross that Jesus bore. It is a way to become stronger. Perhaps, like me, our struggles can become a story of glory. My parents were desperate for their daughter. My mother cried out to God with these same questions. Why? Why God? Why my daughter? Little did she know, then, the huge plan He had for me. It didn't happen immediately. It took several years..but my past,my struggles, He has used to help others. Sometimes we go through things that are really hard to understand. People can be so mean. Or maybe they just don't understand. Remember it isn't them that you are trying to impress, but only Christ. There will be days that the burdens of carrying "the cross" of life will become what seems unbearable. Look up. So many people in the Bible didn't know what the next day would bring..but did it stop them? Daniel, even though he faced the lions den, still went out and prayed to God. Paul, even after being stoned to near death, still carried the cross. He still kept on preaching Gods words. He knew Gods plans were bigger then anything he could imagine. So did Daniel. Remember,
as heavy as your load seems now, or desperate your life may be...God has it all under control. His plans are so much bigger. Keep your eyes skyward, for our redemption draws near!!
God never leads His children otherwise than they would choose to be led,if they could see the end from the beginning, and discern the glory of the purpose which they are fulfilling...Of all the gifts that Heaven can bestow upon men, fellowship with Christ in His sufferings is the most weighty trust and the highest honor.
