Here's another word that is a huge deal in having a successful relationship. I really like how my author went on to share that we should look to the trinity as an example of how we should be. Below I will add a chart to look at for an example from the book.
It's hard to be unified when we live in a self absorbed world. In past relationships I can see the fault in always turning to what I did or did not receive instead of concerning myself more into what I could do to make the situation better. Also, how I could be like Christ. In the trinity you have perfect unity. You have three that work together as one but also know the role that they play. Where the two, in the end, become humble to the third highest. We as women have to learn this. Like in our relationship with Christ. We work together as one and but as we are to Christ, we should be to our husband or future husband. Unified and submissive. Wait wait..don't get your hackles up. Remember this is an honor not a lowering thing. God gave him a huge role too. To take care of you and your children. To love you as Christ loves you.
So, in looking to the trinity we have them working together perfectly to get the work done. Ultimately to bring us home. They don't bicker and fight. They don't say hurtful things or push people away. They are compassionate, loving, kind, humble..perfect communication with each other. Faithful and trusting. With sin in our world, we have become totally opposite of these things. We can be self seeking and hurtful. Pushing people away instead of helping them. Building walls instead of tearing them down. Causing pain instead of love. It is only through the trinity that we have a chance. Jesus is the ultimate savior. Praying for us continually. Giving us the Holy Spirit to help guide us. The Holy Spirit fills us with how we should be and words like the trinity share. Fills us with compassion, love, tenderness, mercy...we must push aside the self role and look to what God desires. My heart is filled this morning of hope not despair. I know this can be possible. We can achieve this. Even when our spouses or future spouses can be difficult..Jesus can help us along the way. Let me share a story for example. I use to work with someone that could be so hateful to me. I would leave work in tears wondering what I did to deserve someone to dislike me so. It's always been a hard thing for me because I always want everyone to like me..don't we all? But she was cruel in her words at times and spiteful. As I prayed with God, I felt Him reminding me to smile anyways. To love her anyways. To show her Christ in my actions. As hard as it was in the beginning, I smiled and smiled till my face hurt. When she was mean I said something nice. Kill it with kindness so to speak. As I did this, I saw changes start to happen. Sure she still could be difficult to deal with, but she wasn't as mean as before. As we become like our Father we desire this. We desire that irregardless of what others do to us, we want and need to love them anyways. To be as Jesus is to us. Forgiveness is definitely something we all need to learn. Kindness goes along side it. You see, we can be just like people around us. We can all be guilty of judgement and harshness. It is how we handle it when it comes that matters most. Today's goal for you and me is to become more like the trinity. Look into your life and see what has been causing you not to be unified in where you are. Be it family, friendship, church,spouse..what can you do today that would be a help in making you both work together instead of separately. To lift them up instead of down. Like a machine working as one to get the job done. Paul's desire was to do all he could to glorify Christ in whatever he did or had to go through. May it be ours too.
To me, the only important thing about living is Christ. And even death would be for my benefit.
Father, I pray that all who believe in me can be one. You are in me and I am in you. I pray that they can also be one in us. Then the world will believe that you sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me. I gave them this glory so that they can be one, just as you and I are one.
